Music and Games, the Spirit of the Season

On Saturday, December 13, our branch meeting will move to the afternoon, so please plan to come at 1:30 PM. Our usual time conflicts with the 71st Uptown Whittier Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday, at 10:00 AM.   So, we are changing our schedule to avoid traffic, street closures, and so you can take your family to the parade.

So, what is December’s plan?  Music and games, of course!  What else could such a month bring when we have so many important holidays during this season?  Our music will be provided by a string quartet led by Music Director, Debbie Carnahan of East Whittier Middle School.  Debbie Carnahan has worked for East Whittier Middle School for 40 years and was recently honored with the “Key to the District” from the Board of Education for her work with young musicians.  She has toured the country with them, garnering awards from local, state and national events along the way.  Her passion and dedication are a hallmark of her work.

As for the other segment of our December Program, we will be engaging in a game of Trivial Pursuit to check our knowledge of things we think we know, but may, indeed, not.  It will give us a chance to cull our memories for elusive answers to strange questions and engage in interactive joy.  I hope you will join us for this December’s delights.

First Friends Church has kindly re-scheduled our meeting even though it is very close to another event to be held at the church that same afternoon.  The New Century Singers Whittier will be performing in the meeting hall at 3:00 PM.  When our meeting is over, you might want to tiptoe over to the church; all are welcome, it is free of charge.
